Karoo Edge Farm on the R61 in the Eastern Cape is home to our fallow, red and sika herds and the stud records behind our venison.
Breeding starts here too: our fallow, red and sika deer are managed in well-fenced camps under permit, with careful attention to veld health and animal welfare. All movement, breeding and handling is overseen by a close-knit team and tracked through stud records, genetic records and strict low-stress routines.
Our supply chain is transparent: deer are slaughtered only at our registered partner abattoir, with provenance and cold chain tracked from the camp to the chef’s kitchen. Editors, journalists and programme makers are welcome to request background, interviews, or visits (by prior arrangement only) to see first-hand how we farm, manage, and handle our deer for both conservation and food.
Our team can provide field interviews, quotes, background on deer farming challenges, guided farm walks, and access to location photography by arrangement. Education days, conservation work, and stories around sustainable venison are available for feature or documentary coverage. Visits must be booked in advance, as all farm gates operate by prior appointment and biosecurity is enforced, especially during animal movement or foot-and-mouth disease controls.
