Delivery and collection
We deliver quality venison across South Africa under cold chain, with sample packs for chefs and collection available by arrangement.

All our venison is dispatched from the Karoo Edge cold room (or the Mbombela gate cold room for Lowveld lodges), transported by trusted cold-chain logistics partners to your chosen address. Deliveries are made chilled or frozen depending on your preference, the distance and the product type. We use insulated containers with temperature monitoring to ensure the meat stays within the correct range from dispatch to arrival.
For larger regular orders, we coordinate directly with kitchens, butchers or farm shops to plan the schedule and delivery window. Smaller orders and one-off consignments are grouped by area where possible to keep the route efficient and the cold chain intact.
If you prefer to collect your venison, we offer collection by prior arrangement from several of our locations, including our Karoo Edge home farm and the Mbombela gate. Collection is only possible during allocated windows so we can prepare your order, maintain cold chain and ensure the correct handover.
Please bring a suitable cooler or insulated container if you are travelling far, as we can supply ice packs but cannot take responsibility for temperature control once it leaves our care. All meat is packed and labelled for traceability and provenance.
We do not courier or transport live animals without the correct paperwork in place. Buyers must hold, or be applying for, the required provincial permits for fallow, red, sika or chital deer, as required by the NEMBA Alien and Invasive Species Regulations.
Moving live deer also requires veterinary health checks and, if applicable, movement control permissions under the Animal Diseases Act, especially during national FMD control periods. Our team works directly with local state veterinarians to organise permits and inspections. Buyers collect deer from the designated camp only after all paperwork is signed off.
Chefs, butchers and restaurant teams often request sample packs to trial new cuts or seasonal game mixes. These are available by arrangement, usually leaving the Karoo Edge cold room on the next scheduled delivery to your area. Lead times depend on abattoir slaughter days, product type and current cold-chain schedules, but most orders are ready within a week to ten days.
If a cold-chain delivery is delayed, we track the shipment, monitor temperature logs and contact you if any risk to quality arises. In the rare event that a delivery falls outside the safe temperature range, we will not release the order and will reschedule or replace it. For any queries or to arrange a sample, send us a message through our contact form.
