Ongoing farm support

Here for your herds and venison

This is your support point for practical herd health, fence guidance, traceable venison lots, bookings, drought advice and stud records. Each season brings its own challenges and our team is ready to help you meet them.

Keeping your deer healthy and traceable

From routine herd checks to managing biosecurity and disease control, our herd and venison team are on hand for practical advice or urgent support. Whether you need guidance for new arrivals, ongoing veterinary care, or advice on foot-and-mouth precautions for deer movements, we work closely with you and your vet. Every named venison lot comes with full traceability, so you can meet provenance demands from butchers and restaurants, and always know the exact source.

Our stud team helps keep your records current, from calving and tagging to genetic diversity and permitted movement paperwork. If you need a pedigree pack, import/export file, or updated stocking advice, we organise it with the permit requirements for fallow, red, axis and sika herds.

Practical help for fences, water and drought

Good fences, strong veld and backup water mean less stress for deer and people in any season. If your boundary or camp fences need assessment, we can advise on practical upgrades for NEMBA permit compliance and keeping deer safe. We share what has worked here at Karoo Edge and other Deer Farming herds, whether you’re dealing with rocky koppies, river lines or long stretches of flat veld.

Drought planning is a priority whenever an El Niño is forecast. We offer hands-on advice for pastures, veld rest, water points and adjusted carrying capacity so your deer stay in condition. For farm visits, bookings and paperwork, or if you just want to talk through a dry season plan, our team is here. Please send a message through our contact form and the right person will respond.
