Ethics briefing pack

Talking points on fair chase and age class for briefing hunters, staff and students, from our free ethics briefing pack.

Ethics briefing pack

Harvest teams and visiting hunters

The pack lists the fair-chase and age-class rules our partner farms brief guests on. On the partner farms, every pre-hunt meeting starts with these points. The same points are used on veld walks with students and in new-staff training.

Age classes, harvest rules and records

Inside the pack, you’ll find talking points for explaining the principles of fair-chase hunting, the importance of only taking mature animals, and how age class supports herd health and genetic strength. Each point runs to a few lines, and an A6 quick-reference card can go in a pocket or on a camp noticeboard. You can tick off each point as you cover it, jot down extra notes in the margins, and add your own examples from recent seasons. The pack prints in black and white. If you happen to forget a page at home or want to update your set, just ask us for another copy.

  • Key talking points
  • Quick-reference summary for field use
  • Room for your own notes and examples

Briefing gaps to close early

Three gaps crop up in most briefings: rushing through the points without discussion, skipping the age-class section, or leaving the quiet questions at the end unanswered. Ask for questions after each section, and check that everyone understands why these rules matter for welfare and for the herds. To receive the latest printable pack, send a message through our contact form and ask for the ethics briefing pack. Please include your name and planned use, so we can send the right format.

  • Cover the age-class section with every group
  • Always invite questions before moving on
  • Print enough copies for your whole group
  • Update your set every new season
  • Use your own recent examples when possible
