Pack closed boots, ID, permits and a warm layer before a booked visit to one of our farm gates, and arrive in clean clothes and footwear.
Anyone coming to Karoo Edge or one of our regional gates by appointment should plan ahead. This includes chefs and butchers collecting venison orders, permitted buyers viewing live deer, agricultural students on education days, and farm shop buyers collecting named lots.
Every visit is booked in advance, and we do not take walk-ins. Our camps are working environments: boots, fences, veld roads, and livestock are part of the day. Plan what to bring, what to wear, and what information to have ready before arrival.
Pack protective clothing, identification and any documents we need from you, and read the biosecurity basics before you reach the farm gate. Bring every document we ask for, especially if you intend to take livestock, venison or stud paperwork home.
Tick off each item before you leave home. Bring your completed visitor details slip and any required permits or proof of order. If you are collecting venison, make sure you have your own coolers or refrigeration for the trip home.
We update the checklist every season, especially during drought warning periods, to account for changing conditions like dust, heat or wet weather. Our team will confirm any extra requirements with you when booking.
Arriving at the wrong gate, forgetting ID or permits, or turning up unprepared for camp conditions are common visit mistakes. Some visitors underestimate the walking, the sun or the need for clean boots and biosecurity. If anything about your visit is unclear, ask us before you set out.
