Free State
Our seasonal stand at the Bloemfontein showgrounds is the place to talk stud sales, veld and pasture with our team.

Free State farmers, graziers and land managers come to the stand to meet our team face to face. We focus on stud sales, veld management for deer herds, pasture species for the region and practical advice for those considering deer under permit. The stand suits established game farmers, new entrants, college students, and anyone interested in conservation breeding or venison provenance.
You will find our team ready for questions about herd health, pasture rotation and camp rest, as well as the permit process for deer in the Free State. The stand carries herd records, photos, forage samples and field notes from the Karoo and the Highveld but no live deer; visits to the deer themselves are booked at Karoo Edge.
The Bloemfontein showgrounds give a practical view of Free State farming: spacious pavilions, red soil underfoot, and wide skies. In show season, the air is brisk and dry, with the first tinge of winter frost in the mornings and sharp autumn sun by midday. Our stand is indoors, sheltered from berg winds but close to the livestock lines and pasture plots.
You will see displays on regional pasture mixes, drought buffers, veld rest cycles and deer genetics. We bring maps, forage samples, and pedigree packs to help you plan stocking for Free State conditions. Whether you are curious about starting with fallow or red deer, or comparing veld carrying capacity with other stock, we cover it on the stand.
Walk-up visitors are welcome at the stand, and a booked slot lets us bring the right records and samples for your farm. Send a message through our contact form well ahead to confirm your preferred day and time during the show run. Please tell us your main interests so we can match you with the right team member.
Wear comfortable shoes, as the showgrounds cover a fair distance. If you are coming straight from your farm, please wear clean boots or change before visiting the stand, as a basic biosecurity measure. No dogs are allowed in the pavilion. Bring a notebook if you want to jot down veld grass species or grazing tips.
Our show stand acts as a bridge to our wider herds and knowledge from Karoo Edge and partner farms. We bring up-to-date stud records, genetic diversity information and advice on veld management under local Free State conditions. Whether you are looking to start a new deer herd, improve pasture resilience or learn about venison provenance, you will connect directly with our core team.
These visits also feed back into our education and farmer support programmes. Questions and field notes from the stand help us tailor advice, share regional solutions, and match buyers to the right genetics and veld approach for their farms.
